Acosca (Italian:[ˈkɔska]; pl.cosche inItalian andcoschi inSicilian), in Sicily, is aclan orSicilian Mafiacrime family led by acapo.

The equivalent in the'Ndrangheta inCalabria is the'ndrina.

Etymology

Acosca is the crown of spiny, closely folded leaves on plants such as theartichoke or thethistle, which symbolizes the tightness of relationships between mafiosi.[1]
