Cory Lee Kruseman[1] (born September 20, 1970) is an American racing driver. A two-timeChili Bowl champion inmidget car racing, he has also competed in theNASCARCraftsman Truck Series and theFirestone Indy Racing League.

Personal life

Born in Ventura, California, Kruseman was married, to Carri, and has one daughter.[2] He currently operates the Cory Kruseman Sprint Car and Midget Driving School.[3] He is a graduate ofBuena High School.[2]

Racing career

Kruseman has raced for most of his career inmidget andsprint cars, racing inUnited States Auto Club (USAC) andSprint Car Racing Association (SCRA) competition.[2] A serious accident in 1995 nearly ended Kruseman's career, but after six months of rehabilitation he returned to racing.[4]

Kruseman won the famousChili Bowl midget car race in 2000; in 2004 he was champion of the event for a second time.[5] Kruseman was also the 2001 SCRA Champion,[3] and the 2002 USAC Indiana Sprint Week Championship champion.[6]

In 2002, Kruseman made one start each in theNASCARCraftsman Truck Series atPhoenix International Raceway,[6] where he finished 31st,[7] and in theFirestone Indy Racing League atTexas Motor Speedway, finishing 26th.[8] Kruseman also attempted to qualify for Craftsman Truck Series races atHomestead-Miami Speedway in 2002,[7] and at Phoenix in 2003, but failed to qualify for either race.[9]

A frequent visitor toAustralia to race Midgets (known as Speedcars down under), Kruseman won the 2002/03Australian Speedcar Championship at theSpeedway City inAdelaide.

Kruseman was inducted into theNational Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2023.[10]
