Cortney E. Lollar is the James and Mary Lassiter Associate Professor of Law at theUniversity of Kentucky. She focuses oncriminal law andcriminal procedure, with particular attention to the intersections of criminal law, remedies,race,gender,sexuality, andsocial science. She publishes on the mistreatment of impoverished women andwomen of color by the court systems.[1]
In 1997, Lollar graduatedmagna cum laude atBrown University and earned herJuris Doctor degree fromNew York University in 2002.[2]
In March 2013, Lollar testified before theDepartment of Defense's Judicial Proceedings Panel inWashington, D.C. to review and assess the judicial proceedings conducted under theUniform Code of Military Justice involving adultsexual assault and related offenses.[3] Lollar is against relying on the criminal system to award money for damages of certain, broad crimes, as she believes it will hurt the poorest convicted people.[4][5]
Lollar has pushed the state ofKentucky to pass laws and acts to help parents provide better care for their children.[6]
