Corbett Eric Cresswell[1] (3 August 1932 – 19 May 2017) was an Englishfootballer who played as acentre half.

Early and personal life

Born inBirkenhead,[2] his father wasEngland international full-backWarney Cresswell, and his uncle wasFrank Cresswell.[3] He was married with two daughters and grandchildren.[4]

Career

Cresswell joinedEvenwood Town in 1951,[5] and later played forBishop Auckland in the 1950s, winning theFA Amateur Cup three times.[6] After a transfer toManchester United fell through,[5] he played inthe Football League forCarlisle United.[2][7] He finished his career withHorden Colliery Welfare.[5]

Cresswell earned 10 caps for theEngland national amateur football team between 1955 and 1957.[2][8]

Later life

He later worked in the furniture business.[5] He died on 19 May 2017, at the age of 84.[4][5]
