  • Machine translation, likeDeepL orGoogle Translate, is a useful starting point for translations, but translators must revise errors as necessary and confirm that the translation is accurate, rather than simply copy-pasting machine-translated text into the English Wikipedia.
  • Consideradding a topic to this template: there are already 435 articles in themain category, and specifying|topic= will aid in categorization.
  • Do not translate text that appears unreliable or low-quality. If possible, verify the text with references provided in the foreign-language article.

Stylisation of the 禄 lù or 子 zi grapheme, respectively meaning "prosperity", "furthering", "welfare" and "son", "offspring". 字 zì, meaning "word" and "symbol", is a cognate of 子 zi and represents a "son" enshrined under a "roof". The symbol is ultimately a representation of the north celestial pole (Běijí 北极) and its spinning constellations, and as such it is equivalent to the Eurasian symbol of the swastika, 卍 wàn.

Confucian ritual religion (s 礼教,t 禮教Lǐjiào, "rites' transmission", also called 名教Míngjiào, the "names' transmission"), or theConfucian civil religion,[1] defines thecivil religion ofChina. It consists of the state-endorsed ceremonies and sacrifices (cults), held according toConfucian modalities, dedicated to theGods which represent thetheologico-political origin of the state itself and the Chinese civilisation.[2] These rituals have undergone a great revitalisation in post-Maoist China, creating a public space in which the Chinese state and popular Confucian movements jostle and negotiate with each other.[2]

Worship of cosmological gods and ofConfucius,[3][2] is carried out regularly atconsecrated public spaces.
