Complicit absolution is an offense inRoman Catholiccanon law consisting of the absolution of a party complicit with the absolvingpriest in an offense. Because it constitutes the abuse of asacrament, it is held to besacrilege.

Some cases involve secular clergy in thearchdiocese of Boston who were similarly accused of abusing the confessional in the documentsCrimen sollicitationis andDe delictis gravioribus.[1]
