TheCompacts of Basel,[1][2] also known asBasel Compacts[3] orCompactata,[4] was an agreement between theCouncil of Basel and the moderateHussites (orUtraquists), which was ratified by theEstates of Bohemia and Moravia inJihlava on 5 July 1436. The agreement authorized Hussite priests to administer thesacramental wine to laymen during theEucharist.[1] The Council ofBasel ratified the document on 15 January 1437, but it acknowledged that thecommunion under both kinds was not heretical only on 23 December.[1]
