TheCommission for Religious Relations with the Jews is apontifical commission in theRoman Curia tasked with maintaining positive theological ties with Jews andJudaism. Established on 22 October 1974,[1] it works alongside theDicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.
Its current President isKurt Koch, who holds that positionex officio as President of thePontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. The Vice-President is the Secretary of the Pontifical Council, BishopBrian Farrell,L.C. The Secretary of the Commission is FatherNorbert J. Hofmann,S.D.B.
The Commission has published a series of documents onChristian–Jewish reconciliation : "Guidelines and Suggestions for Implementing the Conciliar DeclarationNostra aetate No. 4" (1974), "Notes on the Correct Way to Present Jews and Judaism in Preaching and Teaching in the Roman Catholic Church.[2] On 10 Dec. 2015 it published "The Gifts and the Calling of God Are Irrevocable” (Rom 11:29): A Reflection on Theological Questions Pertaining to Catholic–Jewish Relations on the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary ofNostra aetate (no. 4)."
