TheCommander of the Lebanese Armed Forces (Arabic:قائد الجيش اللبناني,romanized: qāʔid al-jayš al-lubnāniyy) is responsible for the operational command of theLebanese Armed Forces (LAF). According to theConstitution, thePresident of Lebanon is thecommander-in-chief. The commander always holds theGeneral rank. The commander must always be aMaronite Christian according to theNational Pact.
The Army Commander is appointed by general grade officers who have not yet been placed in the reserve with a decree issued from the cabinet based on the proposal of theMinister of National Defense.[1]
