The district covers 589 square miles (1,530 km2 ) in five central Texas counties -Comal ,Bexar ,Hays ,Kendall , andGuadalupe . Incorporated communities in the district includeBulverde ,Garden Ridge , and portions ofNew Braunfels andSchertz . The unincorporated communities ofCanyon Lake ,Fischer ,Sattler , Startzville,Spring Branch , andTimberwood Park also lie within the district.
In 2009, the school district was rated "recognized " by theTexas Education Agency .[ 2]
The first school in what would become the district is theChurch Hill School .
