Colico Lake is located in theLa Araucanía Region ofChile. The neighboringCaburgua Lake lies to the east of the lake and theVillarrica Lake to the south. The lake is the second deepest entirely within chilean borders (next toGrey Lake).Colico Lake is the deepestnon-cryptodepression in Chile.
Species of fish in the lake includeRainbow trout andpejerrey.[8] Nearby flora includes trees such ascoigue andoak, and shrubs such asChilean firebush,hummingbird fuchsia, andquila.[9]
