Character encoding used in PC DOS

Code page 1040 (CCSID 1040), also known as Korean PC Data Extended, is asingle byte character set (SBCS) used byIBM in itsPC DOS operating system forHangul.[1] It is an extended version of the 8-bit form of theN-byte Hangul Code first specified by the 1974 edition ofKS C 5601 (compare the relationship betweenCode page 1041 andJIS X 0201 forkatakana).
