CoRoT-23b is a transitingHot Jupiterexoplanet found by theCoRoT space telescope in 2011.
CoRoT-23b orbitsCoRoT-23 in the constellation ofSerpens. It is aG0V star with aneffective temperature of 5,900 K (5,630 °C; 10,160 °F), a mass of 1.14M☉, a radius of 1.61R☉, and a near-solarmetallicity of0.05±0.1.[a] Its age is 6.2 - 8.2Gyr.[3]
The planet may be in an unstable orbit and subject to a merger with the host star in the future.[3]
