Cloudy is anunincorporated community located inPushmataha County, Oklahoma, United States.[1] It is 12 miles northeast ofRattan. Cloudy is located at34°18′07″N95°16′52″W / 34.30194°N 95.28111°W /34.30194; -95.28111.
Using thePublic Land Survey System in use in Oklahoma the community is located at T16-3S-R19E.[2]
A post office called Cloudy was established in 1911, and remained in operation until 1983.[3] The community was named afterCloudy Creek.[4]
The earliest marked grave in the Cloudy Cemetery is dated 1898—a time when the area was a part ofCedar County, a part of theApukshunnubbee District of theChoctaw Nation.[5]
During the waning days of theIndian Territory, the mountains in the area were known as the Seven Devils, and hunting parties from elsewhere in the country used to take theSt. Louis-San Francisco Railway toAntlers and travel to the area by horse-drawn wagon. Cloudy and its environs continue to be popular hunting and fishing areas.[6]
