Clogestone acetate (USANTooltip United States Adopted Name) (developmental code nameAY-11440), also known aschlormadinol acetate or as3β,17α-diacetoxy-6-chloropregna-4,6-diene-20-one,[1] is asteroidalprogestin which was investigated as aprogestin-only contraceptive andpostcoital contraceptive but was never marketed.[2][3][4][5] It is the diacetateester ofclogestone, which, similarly was never marketed.[2] Clogestone acetate produceschlormadinone acetate as anactive metabolite.[6]
