CaptainClifford Charles Alan Lawrence Erskine-Bolst (1878 – 11 January 1946) was a BritishConservative Party politician.
During the First World War, he served as a lieutenant in the1st Black Watch Regiment, and as a captain in the3rd Royal Highlanders.[1]
He was elected asMember of Parliament (MP) forHackney South at aby-election in August 1922 following the expulsion of theindependent MPHoratio Bottomley, who had been convicted of fraud. He held the seat at theNovember 1922 general election, but lost it the following year at the1923 general election.
Erskine-Bolt returned to theHouse of Commons at theNovember 1931 general election, when he was elected in theBlackpool constituency, defeating the writerEdgar Wallace, who ran as an independent Liberal. He served only one term, stepping down at the1935 general election.
He was married toCalifornia socialite Blanche Ryer from the early 1920s until their divorce in 1933.[2] As a result of this marriage he became the stepfather ofDoris Ryer Nixon.
His name appears in the San FranciscoSocial Register for 1927,[3] and again in 1932[4] (where he and his wife are listed as residents ofÈze,France).
