Clifford G. Williams (27 May 1939[3] – 2 February 2014) was a Welshrugby union, and professionalrugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) forMonmouthshire County RFC, at invitational level forCrawshays RFC, and at for club levelHafodyrynys RFC[1],Cross Keys RFC (captain), andNewport RFC, as ascrum-half, and representative level rugby league (RL) forWales, and at club level forHunslet,Batley, andSwinton, as ascrum-half.[1][4]
Cliff Williams was born inAbercarn, Wales. He was one of two children. He died aged 74 inLeeds,West Yorkshire. His funeral took place atLawnswood Cemetery,Leeds, and he is buried in hisHunslet teamblazer in grave number 7 (coincidentally his shirt number in rugby league) atWhinmoorCemetery,Leeds.
Cliff Williams was signed byNewport RFC as a replacement forBob Prosser (who had joined rugby league clubSt. Helens). Williams made his début for Newport RFC againstWasps RFC on Saturday 23 October 1965.
Cliff Williams played forMonmouthshire County RFC (RU) during 1966, his final game of rugby union was the victory overGlamorgan County RFC.

He joinedHunslet on Friday 27 May 1966.
