Claverack Creek[1] is a 17.5-mile-long (28.2 km)[2] tributary toStockport Creek inColumbia County, New York, in the United States. Its source is in the town ofClaverack at the hamlet of Mellenville, and its mouth is at its confluence withKinderhook Creek to form Stockport Creek, in the town ofStockport.
The lower Claverack Creek was known asTwastawekak (To-was-ta-we-kak orTwastaweekak) by the Native AmericanMahican tribe,[3] while the upper creek was namedSka-an-kook orSkaanpook.[4]
