Class of Lies is an Americanteen drama series created forSnapchat as part of their venture into scripted streaming content for mobile devices and was launched in 2018.[1] Developed as a joint venture betweenSnapchat andNBCUniversal, the show is executive produced byMark Boal, who wrote and produced the Oscar-winning filmThe Hurt Locker and the Oscar-nominated filmZero Dark Thirty.[2][3]

Plot

Devon (Camille Ramsey) and Missy (Tatsumi Romano) are best friends and college roommates who crack cold cases on their successful true-crime podcast.[4][5] Their lives quickly turn upside down when their best friend disappears without a trace, leaving the two true-crime podcasters responsible for solving their most important case yet.[6]

Production

The series was written byRiverdale writer Tessa Leigh Williams[7][8] and won the 2019Writers Guild of America (WGA) award for Best Original Short Form New Media.[9] The entire series was filmed and edited vertically, as a way of introducing a new method of viewing streaming content.[10][11] The series is among a list of shows branded asSnap Originals[12] and was the company's introduction to TV-like programming.[13][14] Additionally, viewers are able to interact with the series throughaugmented reality features such as Show Portals,[15] which allow viewers to enter Missy and Devon's dorm room and explore the premises.[16][17]
