Citrus oxanthera,synonymOxanthera aurantium, is a species ofplant in the familyRutaceae. Sometimes referred to commonly as the orange-flowered oxanthera, it isendemic toNew Caledonia.[1]
Citrus oxanthera has historically been placed in a number of genera, includingAtalantia and most recently,Oxanthera, commonly known asfalse oranges.Phylogenetic analysis showed thatOxanthera species clustered withinCitrus, which makes this species a member of that genus,[2] as had been suggested byGeorges Beauvisage a century before.[3]
