Phylogeny

[edit]

A 2011molecular phylogenetic study placedC. asper as a member of the purple and pink flowered clade ofCistus species, along with some other Canary Island endemics (Cistus chinamadensis,Cistus horrens,Cistus ocreatus, andCistus symphytifolius).[3]
