Cioburciu (Moldovan Cyrillic:Чобурчию,Russian:Чобручи,romanized: Chobruchi,Ukrainian:Чобручі,romanized: Choburchi,Hungarian:Csöbörcsök) is a village in theSlobozia District ofTransnistria,Moldova.[1] It has since 1990 been administered as a part of the breakawayPridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR).
According to the unofficial census of 2004, the population of the village was 7,176 inhabitants, of which 6,214 (86.59%) Moldovans (Romanians), 457 (6.36%) Ukrainians and 436 (6.07%) Russians.[2]
During the2025 Moldovan energy crisis, a retired couple died in Cioborciu fromcarbon monoxide poisoning after leaving astove on and going to sleep.[3]
