Cinanserin (INNTooltip International Nonproprietary Name; developmental code nameSQ-10643) is aserotonin5-HT2A and5-HT2C receptorantagonist which was discovered in the 1960s and was never marketed.[1][2][3] It has about 50-fold higheraffinity for the 5-HT2A receptor than for 5-HT2C, and very low affinity for5-HT1 receptors.[3] The drug also inhibits the3C-like protease ofSARS-CoV-1[4] andSARS-CoV-2,[5] but with much lower affinity.
