TheChulym (Russian:Чулым) is ariver inKrasnoyarsk Krai, theRepublic of Khakassia, andTomsk Oblast inRussia, a righttributary of theOb.[1] The length of the river is 1,799 kilometers (1,118 mi). The area of itsbasin is 134,000 square kilometers (52,000 sq mi).[2] The Chulym is formed at the confluence of the riversBely Iyus andCherny Iyus in theKuznetsk Alatau.[1] The Chulym flows into the Ob nearMolchanovo. The towns ofNazarovo,Achinsk, andAsino, and the village ofKomsomolsk are located on the Chulym. The main tributaries are theSerezh,Uryup,Kiya andYaya from the left andBolshoy Uluy,Kemchug andChichkayul from the right.[1]

The Swedish explorerJohan Peter Falk noted 18th-centuryhunter gatherers living along the banks of the Chulym River.[3]
