Charles E. Martin Jr. (born July 20, 1961) is an American politician. He is aRepublican representing the49th district in theGeorgia House of Representatives.
Martin was a City Councillor inAlpharetta, Georgia from 1993 to 1995, and mayor from 1996 to 2002.[1] Martin has representedFulton County, Georgia in the Georgia House of Representatives since 2003, and has been the Chairman of the Higher Education Committee since 2019.[2] Since 2013 he has representedDistrict 49.
After Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election in Georgia andDonald Trump refused to concede while makingfalse claims of fraud, Martin supported a performance review of the top election official in Fulton County, a heavily Democratic county.[3] There was no evidence of meaningful fraud or wrongdoing in Fulton County.[3]
