Christopher Oram is a Britishtheatre set andcostume designer.
He trained at the West Sussex College of Art and Design (latterlyNorthbrook College).
Early assisting work for designersAnthony Ward andIan MacNeil, includedAssassins at theDonmar Warehouse,Oliver! at theLondon Palladium andAn Inspector Calls andMachinal at theNational Theatre.
Having designed extensively on the fringe in London, he began a long term creative collaboration with the directorMichael Grandage whom he met in 1995 when they first worked together on Arthur Miller'sThe Last Yankee in Colchester.

Oram designed the four plays of the DonmarWyndham's season,Ivanov with Kenneth Branagh,Twelfth Night with Derek Jacobi,Madame de Sade withJudi Dench, andHamlet withJude Law (which subsequently transferred toElsinore castle in Denmark, and to theBroadhurst Theatre, Broadway).
Oram also designed the musicalsGuys and Dolls at thePiccadilly Theatre (alsoPrincess Theatre, Melbourne) andEvita at theAdelphi Theatre in London, and on Broadway, as well as the costumes for Kenneth Branagh'sfilm ofThe Magic Flute.
Other work includesCat on a Hot Tin Roof (dir.Rob Ashford at theRichard Rodgers Theatre, Broadway),The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (dir.Jamie Lloyd, Donmar Warehouse),Passion (dir. Oram was also the season designer of the Michael Grandage Company inaugural season at theNoël Coward Theatre.Privates on Parade,Peter and Alice,The Cripple of Inishmaan,A Midsummer Night's Dream, andHenry V.
Hisopera work includesBilly Budd (Glyndebourne andBAM) andThe Marriage of Figaro (Glyndebourne),Don Giovanni (MET), andMadama Butterfly (Houston Grand Opera).
In 2017/18 he designed set and costume forDisney Theatrical Groups production ofFrozen for its out of town production in Denver and its Broadway production opening at theSt. James Theatre on 22 March 2018.
Oram is an Artistic Associate on 'Plays at the Garrick' in the forthcoming Kenneth Branagh season in the West End.
He is also a Companion of theLiverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and is currently on the committee of the Linbury Prize for stage design.
During 2016 the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company will present a series of five plays. The director is Rob Ashford, the actor-director Kenneth Branagh and designer Christopher Oram.[1]
