Christine Romans is an Americanbroadcast journalist, author, and a senior business correspondent forNBC News. She previously served as the chief business correspondent and anchor forCNN'sEarly Start.

Early life

Romans is fromLe Claire, Iowa.[1][2] She graduated fromPleasant Valley High School in 1989.[3] She graduated fromIowa State University in 1993, majoring in French, journalism, and mass communication.[4][5] She also studied French media and French literature at theCatholic University of Lyon in France during the summer of 1991.[1]

Career

Romans reported for several newspapers including theDes Moines Register andKnight-Ridder. She then served as a reporter and anchor for Reuters Television.[3] She joined CNN in 1999 and began reporting from the floor of theNew York Stock Exchange.[6] She next hosted CNN'sOn the Money and was a reporter and substitute anchor onLou Dobbs Tonight.[7] She also hostedStreet Sweep on the defunct networkCNNfn.[8] In January 2014, she was named as the new anchor forEarly Start.[9] A year later, Romans published her third book titledSmart Is the New Rich: Money Guide for Millennials.[10]

On July 28, 2023, Romans announced her departure from CNN. That same day, it was reported she would move toNBC News.[11] On October 30, Romans was officially announced as a Senior Business Correspondent for NBC News andMSNBC.[12]

Personal life

She is married to Ed Tobin, and the couple have three children.[8]
