Christian Democracy (Portuguese:Democracia Cristã,DC) is aChristian democraticpolitical party inBrazil. It was founded in 1995 as theChristian Social Democratic Party (Portuguese:Partido Social Democrata Cristão,PSDC),[5] and was officially registered in 1997.[6] the party is presided byJosé Maria Eymael, who has competed thepresidential elections six times.[7] In 2017, it changed its name to the current one.[8]

The PSDC was established to be a continuation of theChristian Democratic Party, which had merged with theDemocratic Social Party to form theReform Progressive Party in 1993.[5]
