Australian journalist

Christopher Dore is an Australian journalist, currently the editor-in-chief ofThe Nightly and editor-in-chief of TheWest Australian from May 2024.[1]He was previously the editor-in-chief ofThe Australian from October 2018[2] until 16 November 2022.[3] He was formerly the editor ofThe Daily Telegraph,The Courier-Mail,The Sunday Times, and deputy editor ofThe Sunday Telegraph andThe Australian.

Dore is a Walkley Award winning journalist.[4] During his time as editor,The Courier-Mail was also awarded the PANPA newspaper of the year.[citation needed]

Under Dore’s leadership atThe Australian, subscriber numbers to print and digital editions more than doubled, from 136,000 in 2018 to almost 277,000 in 2022. He was renowned for producing outrageous front pages during his stints atThe Courier-Mail andThe Daily Telegraph.[3]

Dore was born inBrisbane, Queensland, and studied economics and politics at theUniversity of Adelaide. He began his career atThe Australian, where he held several roles, including deputy editor, Victorian editor, night editor, New Zealand-based Pacific correspondent, and political correspondent in theCanberra Press Gallery.[5][6]
