Christopher Baker (usually known asChris Baker but also professionally asFangorn), (born 17 August 1960 inBirmingham,England) is a cover artist for British and German versions of theRedwall books, as well as a storyboard and film conceptual artist, most notably with filmmakersStanley Kubrick andTim Burton.
Baker's pseudonym "Fangorn" is derived from the name of a forest inJ. R. R. Tolkien'sThe Lord of the Rings novel.
Baker received his education at theBournville School of Art.
In the early 1990s, Fangorn provided art forGames Workshop, including the covers art of boxed gamesAdvanced Space Crusade, theSpace Hulk supplementsDeathwing andGenestealer, andBattle for Armageddon, as well as the covers of several issues ofWhite Dwarf magazine. He also worked alongsideStan Nicholls creating the art for theDavid Gemmell graphic novelsLegend andWaylander.
In addition to his many covers in theRedwall series, Fangorn also contributed artwork toRedwall Map & Riddler andRedwall Friend & Foe.
He won the 2019BSFA Award for Best Artwork for his cover forWourism and Other Stories byIan Whates (Luna Press)[1]
