Chong Kee Hiong (Chinese:钟奇雄;pinyin:Zhōng Qíxiǒng;Jyutping:Zung1 Kei4 Hung4;Pe̍h-ōe-jī:Cheng Kî-hiông; born April 1966)[1][2] is a Singaporean accountant and former politician who has been serving as the treasurer of thePAP Community Foundation since 2020. A member of the governingPeople's Action Party (PAP), he was themember of Parliament (MP), part of the PAP team, representingBishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency between 2015 and 2025.
Chong was educated atRaffles Institution andRaffles Junior College[3] before he received a scholarship fromKPMG[3] to study at theNational University of Singapore, from which he graduated with aBachelor of Accountancy. As NUS' School of Accountancy was moved to the then Nanyang Technological Institute (predecessor ofNanyang Technological University, Singapore) in 1987, Chong is also considered an alumnus ofNTU Singapore. He also completed an Advanced Management Program at theHarvard Business School in 2008. He is a member of theInstitute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.[4]
Chong started his career in audit as a graduate assistant atKPMG in 1990.[3][5]
Chong is the chief executive officer of Suntec Real Estate Investment Trust.[6] He was the chairman of NTUC Foodfare.[7] Before joining Suntec, Chong was the chief executive officer of OUE Hospitality REIT Management Pte Ltd.[5] Prior to this, Chong was the chief executive officer ofThe Ascott. Earlier in his career, he was the chief financial officer ofRaffles Holdings.[5]
On 12 August 2015, thePeople's Action Party (PAP) announced Chong as part of a five-member PAP team contesting in Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC in the2015 general election afterWong Kan Seng,Hri Kumar andZainudin Nordin stepped down from their respective wards and politics.[8] Chong was elected to Parliament[9] when the PAP team won 73.59% of the electorate's valid votes.[10] Chong was elected as a member of Parliament for Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC for a second term but as a four-member team in the2020 general election after the PAP team garnered 67.26% of the valid votes. He was then appointed deputy chairman of the National Development Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) in the14th Parliament.[11]
Chong was appointed as the vice-chairman of Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council (BTPTC) since 2015.[12]
Prior to the2025 general election, Chong announced his retirement from politics.[13]
Chong grew up in a two-roomSingapore Improvement Trust flat.[7] He currently lives in a semi-detached house inBishan East.[3][7] Chong is the youngest of 11 siblings.[7] He is married to Monica, whom he met at KPMG, and they have four sons.[3]
