Chloé Paquet (French pronunciation:[klɔepakɛ]; born 1 July 1994) is a French professionaltennis player. She has achieved career-highWTA rankings of No. 96 in singles on 5 August 2024, and 247 in doubles on 12 June 2017.

Career

2010–2013: Early career

Paquet made her debut on theITF Women's Circuit in March 2010 at the $10k tournament held in Gonesse, France; she only played the tournament's singles event, losing in the second qualifying round. She played five tournaments on the2010 ITF Women's Circuit.[1]

She made herWTA Tour singles debut at theWTA Premier2011 Open GdF Suez; as a wildcard, she lost in the first qualifying round toMichaela Pochabová.[1]

2014: Grand Slam doubles debut

Paquet made herGrand Slam debut at the2014 French Open in women's doubles; she and her partnerAlix Collombon had received a wildcard for the main draw and they lost in the first round to the third-seeded Russian pair ofEkaterina Makarova andElena Vesnina.[1]

2015: Grand Slam qualifying debut

Her Grand Slam singles debut in qualifying came at the2015 French Open, after receiving a singles qualifying wildcard; in the qualifying event, she defeated fellow French player Lou Brouleau in the first round, before losing toPaula Kania in the second.[1]

2016: WTA Tour singles debut

Paquet participated in another Grand Slam qualifying competition, after receiving again a wildcard at the2016 French Open. She made her WTA Tour singles main-draw debut at the2016 Copa Colsanitas, after winning two qualifying matches; she lost in the first round of the main draw toAnne Schäfer.[2]

2017: Grand Slam debut at the French Open and first win

At theMexican Open, Paquet played just her second career WTA Tour singles main-draw match; after winning two qualifying matches, but she lost in the first round of the main draw to No. 7 seedLesia Tsurenko.[2]

Paquet made her Grand Slam singles main-draw debut at theFrench Open after receiving a singles main-draw wildcard. Coming into that tournament ranked only 260th in the world in the WTA singles rankings, she upset 44th-rankedKristýna Plíšková in the first round before losing to No. 28 seed,Caroline Garcia, in the second. Paquet's win over Plíšková was the first WTA Tour singles main-draw win of her career.[1][3]

Paquet reached her first career semifinal on theWTA Tour inStrasbourg, losing to fourth seedCaroline Garcia in the semifinal.

At the2021 Australian Open, Paquet qualified for the first time at the event.She received her fifth consecutive wildcard for a direct main-draw entry into the2021 French Open. At the same major, in doubles, she reached the third round as a wildcard pair, partnering compatriotClara Burel.She reached a new career-high singles ranking of world No. 122, on 8 November 2021.

In 2022, Paquet made herWimbledon debut, losing toIrina Bara in the first round.

2023: First WTA 125 final

Paquet reached her firstWTA 125-level final at theOpen Angers Arena Loire, losing to compatriotClara Burel in the final.[4]

2024–2025: French Open third round, second semifinal, top 100

In May, Paquet reached her secondWTA 125-level final at theL'Open 35 de Saint-Malo, losing it to fellow FrenchLoïs Boisson. Having received a wildcard for the main draw of the2024 French Open, Paquet reached the third round for the first time at a major with wins overDiana Shnaider and 32nd seedKateřina Siniaková,[5] before losing to fifth seedMarkéta Vondroušová in the third round.[6]

In July, Paquet reached her firstWTA Tour semifinal in five years and second of her career at the2024 Iași Open. As a result, she entered the top 100 for the first time at age 30, on 29 July 2024.[7][8] She lost her semifinal match to fifth seedElina Avanesyan.[9]

Paquet received the FFT reciprocal wildcard for the singles main draw of the2025 Australian Open.[10][11]

Personal life

Chloe Paquet was born in Versaille, France, on July 1, 1994.[13] She is the cousin of professional tennis playersValentin Vacherot,Arthur Rinderknech, andBenjamin Balleret, and the niece ofVirginie Paquet.[14][15]

  1. ^The firstPremier 5 event of the year has switched back and forth between theDubai Tennis Championships and theQatar Ladies Open since 2009. Dubai was classified as a Premier 5 event from 2009 to 2011 before being succeeded by Doha for the 2012–2014 period. In 2015, Dubai regained its Premier 5 status while Doha was demoted to Premier status. The Premier 5 tournaments were reclassified asWTA 1000 tournaments in 2021.
