John McLeod"Chip" Lohmiller (born July 16, 1966) is an American former professionalfootball player who was aplacekicker in theNational Football League (NFL) for theWashington Redskins,New Orleans Saints, andSt. Louis Rams. He playedcollege football for theUniversity of Minnesota andhigh school football atWoodbury Senior High School inWoodbury, Minnesota, a suburb east ofSaint Paul.
During Lohmiller's time at Minnesota, he was named to theAll-Big Ten Conference first-team in1986 and the second-team in1987.[1] By the end of his college career, Lohmiller became Minnesota's all-time leading scorer with 268 points (since broken by Dan Nystrom in 2002).[2]
Lohmiller was selected in thesecond round (55th overall) of the1988 NFL draft by theWashington Redskins, for whom he played from1988 to1994.[3] He finished his NFL career with theNew Orleans Saints (1995) andSt. Louis Rams (1996).
Lohmiller was thehead coach for thePequot Lakes High Schoolfootball team inPequot Lakes, Minnesota, where they advanced to their first state appearance in school history in 2009.[4][5]
