TheChief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (Egyptian Arabic:رئيس أركان حرب القوات المسلحة,romanized: Rayiys 'arkan harb alquaat almusalaha) is the second-in-command of theEgyptian Armed Forces, following theMinister of Defense and thePresident. The Chief of the General Staff typically holds the second-highest military rank in the Armed Forces. The commanders of theNavy,Air Force andAir Defense Forces report to the Chief of the General Staff, while theArmy is under the direct command of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
