Francisco Miguel Franco Antunes Gomes (born 2 June 1988), commonly known asChico, is a Portuguese former professionalfootballer who played as aright-back.
Born inTorres Vedras,Lisbon District, Chico spent five of his formative years atSporting CP, then competed in thethird division until the age of 23, in representation of four clubs. He first appeared in theSegunda Liga in the2011–12 season withMoreirense FC, starting in all of his league appearances to help the team return to thePrimeira Liga after a seven-year absence.[2][3]
On 15 July 2013, after afurther campaign in the second tier, withPortimonense SC,[4] Chico signed a contract withBulgarian clubPSFC Chernomorets Burgas following a successful one-week trial.[5] His first top-flight match occurred four days later, when he played the full 90 minutes in a 1–0 home win againstPFC Cherno More Varna in theFirst Professional Football League.[6]
Subsequently, Chico returned to his country's second division, representing in quick successionC.F. União,[7]C.D. Aves[8] andC.D. Cova da Piedade.[9] The 29-year-old moved abroad again in late September 2017, joiningCzech First League sideFC Zbrojovka Brno as afree agent.[10]
