Chhannulal Mishra (3 August 1936 – 2 October 2025) was an IndianHindustani classical music singer fromBanaras. He was an exponent of theBanaras gharana school[1][2][3] of Hindustani classical music, especiallyKhayal and Purab Ang (Thumri). He won the Shiromani Award of Sur Singar Sansad, Bombay; the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi Award; the Naushad Award of U.P. Govt; the Yash Bharti Award of U.P; Sangeet Natak Academy fellowship byGovernment of India;[4] and the Bihar Sangeet Shiromani Award.[5][6] He was awarded thePadma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour, on 25 January 2010.[7] He was awarded thePadma Vibhushan India's second highest civilian award in 2020.[8][9] Mishra was the son-in law of PtAnokhelal Mishra.

Mishra was born on 3 August 1936 in Hariharpur in theAzamgarh district ofUttar Pradesh, at the home of Badri Prasad Mishra. He first learnt music with his father, Badri Prasad Mishra, and was then educated by Ustad Abdul Ghani Khan of the Kirana gharana.[10] He was trained thereafter by Thakur Jaidev Singh.[citation needed]

Pandit Chhannulal Mishra died inMirzapur at the age of 89 on 2 October 2025 due to prolonged illness.[11][12]
