TheChevrolet Code 130R is acompact 2-doorsportscoupeconcept revealed byAmerican automobile manufacturerChevrolet at the 2012North American International Auto Show inspired by theChevrolet Nova.

The Chevrolet Code 130R concept was revealed at theNorth American International Auto Show (NAIAS) on January 9, 2012 inDetroit,Michigan, revealed alongside theChevrolet Tru 140S concept.[1] It is acompact 2-door, 4-seatsportscoupe inspired by the 1962Chevrolet Nova and is designed to be aUS$20,000 car for younger buyers.[2][3][4]
The Code 130R was designed by Joe Baker, designer of threeFord concepts; the 2003427, 2004Bronco, and 2007Interceptor.[5]

The Chevrolet Code 130R usesGM's 150-horsepower 1.4LEcotecturbochargedDOHCI4 witheAssist technology and is in thefront-engine, rear-wheel drive layout.[6] It has a 6-speedautomatic transmission and is built on theGeneral Motors Alpha platform, which was also used by the 2013Cadillac ATS, also shown at the 2012 NAIAS, and later on used by the 2014CTS, 2020CT4, andCT5 as well as the 2016Chevrolet Camaro.[7]
Chevrolet built three Code 130R concepts—the original one painted in red shown at NAIAS, another painted insky blue shown at the 2012Paris Motor Show,[8] and a third painted inslate gray at the 2012LA Auto Show[9]—all of which feature 20-inchmatteanodizedgold rims.[10] The Code 130R concept features Chevrolet's cross flag badge on the fenders, which is used as theCorvette's badge, and other 'Code 130R' badges throughout the car.[10]
At the North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet held a poll, asking which compact coupe concept the showgoers prefer; the rear-wheel drive Code 130R or the front-wheel drive Tru 140S. The vast majority of votes were for the Code 130R, which—if built—would be a US$20,000Chevrolet Nova successor.[5][7] This car was never built, however. Although, thesixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro did carry over many design cues which were featured on the Code 130R concept, mainly in the side and rear profiles.[11]
