Chase Alan Hooper[3] (born September 13, 1999) is an Americanmixed martial artist. He currently competes in theLightweight division of theUltimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Mixed martial arts career

Hooper began his amateur MMA career while he was still attendingEnumclaw High School.[4] On the regional circuit ofWashington, Hooper compiled an undefeated 5–0 record with four stoppage wins[5] before making his professional debut on October 7, 2017, against Edson Penado. Hooper won the fight via rear-naked choke submission in the first round[6] utilizing his heavy skills inBrazilian jiu-jitsu, in which he's a juvenilePan American champion as ablue belt.[7]

Dana White's Contender Series

Hooper competed atDana White's Contender Series 14 against Canaan Kawaihae. He won the fight via unanimous decision and was awarded a development league contract.[8]

He competed in three more fights (winning two of them and the other one ending in a draw) in notable minor promotions such asCFFC andTitan FC before being signed by theUFC.[9]

Ultimate Fighting Championships

Hooper made his promotional debut againstDaniel Teymur on December 14, 2019, atUFC 245. He won the fight via technical knockout in the first round.[10]

Hooper facedAlex Caceres on June 6, 2020, atUFC 250.[11] He lost the fight via unanimous decision, marking his first professional defeat.[12]

Hooper faced Peter Barrett atUFC 256 on December 12, 2020.[13] He earned a comeback win in the third round via heel hook submission.[14]

Hooper facedSteven Peterson on June 12, 2021, atUFC 263.[15] At the weigh-ins, Peterson weighed in at 148.5 pounds, two and a half pounds over the featherweight non-title fight limit. The bout proceeded at catchweight and he was fined 20% of his purse, which went to Hooper.[16] Hooper lost the fight via unanimous decision.[17]

Hooper facedFelipe Colares on May 21, 2022, atUFC Fight Night 206.[18] He won the fight via technical knockout in round three.[19] This win earned him thePerformance of the Night award.[20]

Hooper facedSteve Garcia on October 29, 2022, atUFC Fight Night 213.[21] He lost the fight via TKO in the first round.[22]

Hooper faced Nick Fiore on May 20, 2023, atUFC Fight Night 223.[23] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[24]

Hooper facedJordan Leavitt on November 18, 2023 atUFC Fight Night 232.[25] He won the fight via a rear-naked choke submission in the first round.[26]

Hooper faced Viacheslav Borshchev on May 11, 2024, atUFC on ESPN 56.[27] After knocking down Borshchev in the first round, Hooper won the fight viaBrabo choke submission in the second round.[28]

Hooper faced formerStrikeforce Lightweight ChampionClay Guida on December 7, 2024 atUFC 310.[29] He won the fight via an armbar submission in the first round.[30] This fight earned him anotherPerformance of the Night award.[31]

Hooper is scheduled to faceJim Miller on April 12, 2025 atUFC 314.[32]

Professional grappling career

Hooper competed againstRenato Moicano at Fury Pro Grappling 3 on December 30, 2021 and lost the match by unanimous decision.[33]

Hooper competed againstClay Guida at Fury Pro Grappling 6 on December 30, 2022, submitting Guida with a calf-slicer.[34]

Hooper competed againstAljamain Sterling in the main event of ADXC 2 on January 19, 2024.[35] He lost the match by split decision.[36]
