Charles Barton Kendall, Jr (born January 4, 1935) is an American former professionalfootballdefensive back who played one season with theHouston Oilers of theAmerican Football League (AFL). He playedcollege football atLos Angeles Valley College and theUniversity of California, Los Angeles.
Charles Barton Kendall, Jr was born on January 4, 1935, inManila in thePhilippines.[1] He attendedVerdugo Hills High School inLos Angeles, California.[2]
Kendall first playedcollege football atLos Angeles Valley College from 1955 to 1956.[2] He was then a two-yearletterman for theUCLA Bruins of theUniversity of California, Los Angeles from 1957 to 1958.[2]
Kendall signed with theHouston Oilers of theAmerican Football League (AFL) in 1960.[3] He played in all 14 games, starting six, for the Oilers during the team's inaugural 1960 season and recorded two interceptions.[1] He also played in the1960 AFL Championship Game, a 24–16 victory over theLos Angeles Chargers.[4] Kendall became a free agent after the season.[3]
In 1982, Kendall was reportedly interested in purchasing theLos Angeles Clippers from ownerDonald Sterling but Sterling did not sell.[5]
