Charles James Francis SinclairCBE FCA (born 4 April 1948) is a British businessman. He is the chairman ofAssociated British Foods.[1][2][3][4]
Charles James Francis Sinclair, only son ofSir George Sinclair and Katharine Jane Burdekin,[5] was born on 4 April 1948.[6] He attendedWinchester College and graduated fromMagdalen College, Oxford.[6]
Sinclair joined theDaily Mail and General Trust in 1975. He was its chief executive officer (CEO) from 1989 to September 2008.[1][2][3][4] He was on the board of directors of theEuromoney Institutional Investor from November 1985 to September 2008, ofThomson Reuters from January 1994 to December 2005, ofThe Thomson Corporation until December 2005, ofSchroders from 1990 to April 2004. He joined the board of directors of Associated British Foods in October 2008 and became its chairman in April 2009.[1][3][4] He also sat on the board of directors ofSVG Capital since January 2005.[1][2][3][4] He is a Fellow of theInstitute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.[citation needed]
Sinclair is chairman of the board of trustees of theMinack Theatre inPorthcurno,Cornwall. Sinclair replacedDavid Clementi as warden ofWinchester College in 2014.[7]
Sinclair married Nicola Bayliss in 1974.[5] They have two sons.[5] He is a member of theAthenaeum Club, theFlyfishers' Club andVincent's Club.[5]
