Charles "Chuck" Roven (born August 1, 1949)^[1] is an American film producer and the president and co-founder ofAtlas Entertainment.

He is known for producingsuperhero films such asThe Dark Knight Trilogy,Man of Steel,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, andSuicide Squad.^[2]

Awards and nominations

His filmAmerican Hustle was nominated for theAcademy Award for Best Picture in 2014, as well as in 9 other categories.^[3]^[4] In January 2018, Roven received theDavid O. Selznick Achievement Award for his body of work from theProducers Guild of America.^[5] and he received aGolden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Drama for his producing inOppenheimer, along withEmma Thomas andChristopher Nolan.^[6] He also received theAcademy Award for Best Picture forOppenheimer alongside Nolan and Thomas.

Personal life

He was married to producerDawn Steel from 1985 until her death in 1997.^[7] The two had a daughter born in March 1987.^[8] Roven later married restaurateur Stephanie Haymes,^[9] the daughter of entertainersDick Haymes andFran Jeffries.^[10]

He was a producer in all films unless otherwise noted. Roven was also producer of the ill-fatedAtuk with comedianSam Kinison as the lead. The film was shut down in its first week of production.
