Sir Charles Kenneth Murchison (22 September 1872 – 17 December 1952[1]) was a BritishConservative Party politician.
He was elected at the1918 general election asMember of Parliament (MP) forKingston upon Hull East. Standing as aCoalition Conservative, he won the seat with a large majority over the sittingLiberal MPThomas Ferens.[2]
Murchison did not defend his Hull seat at the1922 general election, and stood instead inHuntingdonshire.[2] He won the seat, but held it for only a year;[1] at the1923 general election he was defeated by the LiberalLeonard Costello. Murchison regained the seat from Costello at thegeneral election in October 1924, and wasknighted on 18 February 1927.[3] After a further defeat at the1929 general election, he did not stand for election to theHouse of Commons again.[2]
