British geologist

Charles David Curtis (born 1939) is aBritish geologist who has served as president of theGeological Society of London from 1992 to 1994.^[1] He is an emeritus professor ofgeochemistry at theUniversity of Manchester.^[2]Curtis read chemistry and geochemistry atImperial College and theUniversity of Sheffield.^[3]

Curtis was chair of the Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee until 2004.^[4] He has been the Head of Research and Development Strategy, Radioactive Waste Management Directorate,Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (formerlyNirex)^[3] since 2007,^{[citation needed]} and is a non-executive director ofDounreay Site Restoration Limited.^[3]
