In 2018, Mann publishedThe Wizard and the Prophet, which details two competing theories about the future ofagriculture,population, and theenvironment.[8][9] The titular "wizard" Mann refers to isNorman Borlaug, theNobel Peace Prize winner credited with developing theGreen Revolution and saving one billion people from starvation.[10] Mann refers toWilliam Vogt, an early proponent of population control, as the "prophet".[11]
