Charge scenic artist

Acharge scenic artist, also known as acharge artist orhead scenic artist, leads and oversees the painting ofstage, film, or televisionscenery.[citation needed]

The duties of the charge artist involve techniques for replicating color and texture, as well as preparing and aging various surfaces.[1] The charge artist interprets thescenic designer'stechnical drawings and paint elevations, and with a crew of journeymenscenic artists, brings them to life on the actual scenery.[citation needed]

The charge artist is also responsible for thebudgeting of the finished sets along with the production designer and theart director.[2]

In the United States such individuals are typically members of theUnited Scenic Artists union.[citation needed]
