Challa Sreenivasulu Setty (born 26 September 1965), also known asC. S. Setty, is abanker and the currentchairman ofState Bank of India, India's largest public sector bank.[1][2]
Setty was born on 26 September 1965 in aTelugu family.[3] He was born in Peddapothulapadu village in theJogulamba Gadwal district ofTelangana state.[4][5]
He completed his schooling in government schools.[6] Later, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from theAcharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU).[7]
He began his career at theState Bank of India in 1988 as a probationary officer.[8] He started his banking career with an assignment at theBardoli,Surat branch of theState Bank of India in 1988.[9]
He is also a certified associate of theIndian Institute of Bankers.[8]
As one of the managing directors, he looked after international banking, global markets, and technology verticals before succeedingDinesh Kumar Khara as the27th chairman of State Bank of India. As of 2024[update], he had served over 35 years at various levels in theState Bank of India.[10][11][12]
His leadership style is characterized by his proactive approach to understanding customer needs. He is known for frequently engaging with retail customers to gather feedback on their service experiences, pain points, and suggestions for improvement.
