Chaim Isaac Waxman (born February 26, 1941) is an Americansociologist now living inIsrael.^[1] He is the ProfessorEmeritus of Sociology andJewish Studies atRutgers University and aSenior Fellow at theVan Leer Jerusalem Institute.^[2]

Waxman received aB.A. in sociology fromYeshiva University in 1963.^[3] He received hisM.A. andPh.D. in sociology fromThe New School for Social Research.^[4] He was a Senior Fellow at theJewish People Policy Planning Institute inJerusalem until March 1, 2009. He is a Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Jewish Studies atRutgers University.

Waxman served as the president of theAssociation for the Social Scientific Study of Jewry (ASSJ) from 1979 to 1981.^[5]
