Chad Everett Gilbert (born March 9, 1981)[5] is an American guitarist, record producer, and songwriter. He is a founding member of thepunk rock bandNew Found Glory, for whom he plays lead guitar and sings backing vocals. He was also the lead vocalist for the band's now-defunct side-projectInternational Superheroes of Hardcore. Additionally, he was the vocalist for thehardcore punk bandShai Hulud from 1995 to 1998 and 2012 to 2013.

Gilbert has produced several records, notablyH2O'sNothing to Prove andA Day to Remember's albums,Homesick,What Separates Me from You andCommon Courtesy. In 2010, he announced he would release solo material online, free of charge,[6] and has released several demos and 7" vinyl records under the nameWhat's Eating Gilbert.[7]

Early life

Chad Everett Gilbert was born on March 9, 1981, inCoral Springs, Florida.[8] He attendedJ. P. Taravella High School,[9] but left after the 11th grade afterNew Found Glory got signed to California-based record labelDrive-Thru Records.[8]

Personal life

Gilbert marriedSherri DuPree of the rock bandEisley in February 2007,[10] and divorced later in the year.[11] He marriedParamore's lead vocalist and keyboardistHayley Williams in February 2016.[12] They divorced in 2017[13] due to infidelity on Gilbert's part.[14] Gilbert married Lisa Cimorelli, member of the all-sisters singing groupCimorelli, on October 3, 2020.[15] They have a daughter who was born on July 17, 2021.[16]

Health

On January 26, 2010, Gilbert reported that "suspicious cells" had been found in histhyroid and he would be getting half of his thyroid surgically removed.[17] Four days later, Gilbert posted on his Twitter that the surgery had been a success and no cancer had been found.[18] On December 19, 2021, Gilbert reported that he underwent emergency surgery at theICU to remove a rare cancerous tumor called apheochromocytoma after he was found unresponsive in his bed at home.[19] On August 15, 2022, Gilbert reported that he had been diagnosed with cancer again and would undergo surgery the following day after another pheochromocytoma tumor was discovered in his spine.[20] He announced on February 11, 2023 that he would undergo intensechemotherapy after additional pheochromocytomas were discovered in his lungs and back.[21]
