TheCentral Bank of Mauritania (French:Banque centrale de Mauritanie, BCM;Arabic:البنك المركزي الموريتاني) is the central bank ofMauritania, in northwest Africa. Thebank is located in the capitalNouakchott, just south of thePresidential Palace. Its currentGovernor is Mohamed Lemine Ould Dhehby.[2]
The bank was created by acts of thelegislature ofMauritania, in 1973, 1974 and 1975.[3] It was established by PresidentMoktar Ould Daddah after he withdrew Mauritania from the French-dominated monetary consortium, theCommunauté Financière Africaine.[4]
