TheCentral Bank of Luxembourg (French:Banque centrale du Luxembourg[bɑ̃ksɑ̃tʁaldylyksɑ̃buʁ],BCL;German:Luxemburger Zentralbank[ˈlʊksm̩ˌbʊʁɡɐtsɛnˈtʁaːlbaŋk];Luxembourgish:Zentralbank vu Lëtzebuerg) is thenational central bank forLuxembourg within theEurosystem. It was founded for that purpose in 1998, and also succeeded theInstitut Monétaire Luxembourgeois in some of the latter's mandates.
The Central Bank of Luxembourg is not itself afinancial supervisory authority but participates inEuropean banking supervision as a member of theSupervisory Board of the European Central Bank, alongside theCommission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier.[3] It is also a member of theEuropean Systemic Risk Board (ESRB).[4]
